Among the most recognisable heritage brands in the industry, Barling boasts a history of pipe making dating to the early 19th century, when Benjamin Barling began fitting Turkish meerschaum bowls with ornate silver mounts and caps under the name B. Barling and Sons. As briar began to supplant meerschaum as the pipe-making material of choice, the company transitioned to working with the heath root, ushering in a range of iconic classic shapes — often adorned with silver or other precious metals — that are still prized today by collectors tall over the world.
Thanks to Oliver Kopp, Barling continues that storied tradition today with a range of classic English and French designs, crafted from both briar and meerschaum. These iconic shapes are available in a range of finishes — including the Bark (rusticated), Fossil (sandblasted), and the smoothly finished Ye Olde Wood, Guinea Grain, and The Very Finest — with many models further elevated by the brand’s signature silverwork.
