Originally from Bakersfield, California, Pete Prevost later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and enjoyed an illustrious career as a touring musician. During those years, he discovered pipe smoking and eventually crafted his first pipe from a pre-drilled kit in 2008. Prevost's skills accelerated quickly with hands-on tutelage from veteran artisans Jody Davis, Bruce Weaver, and Todd Johnson, and he soon pursued pipe making full-time, working with Johnson on their line of Icarus and Neptune pipes. In 2013, Prevost co-founded BriarWorks, now located in Columbia, Tennessee. Today, Prevost continues to craft his own line of handmade pipes, while also serving as BriarWorks' President — overseeing the production of BriarWorks and Moonshine pipes in the factory, while also managing the storefront's retail space, bar, and lounge.

Prevost's handmade work excels in craftsmanship and artistry, with his personal design style often characterized by compact dimensions and stout proportions. When accenting a pipe, he mostly opts for exotic hardwoods but also regularly features Bakelite stems, utilizing the material's vivid colors and dramatic patterns to add contrast to a composition. Prevost distinguishes his best pieces with his extremely rare "BELL" stamp, each also marked by a serial number denoting the total number of BELL-grade pipes he has fashioned to date.
